Freedom Tower
The Freedom Tower is the name given to the planned centerpiece building of the new World Trade Center in New York City, whose predecessor was destroyed in the attacks of September 11, 2001.
The height to the top of the spire is set to be 1,776 feet (541 m), a value symbolizing the year (1776) when the United States issued its Declaration of Independence. The height of the Freedom Tower is intended surpass the Sears Tower to become the tallest building in the United States and to be among the tallest buildings in the world.
Depending on the angle viewing it, the Freedom Tower is designed to appear to be either a rectangular shape like the previous towers, or as a massive obelisk design. The walls at the base are offset 45 degrees from the walls of the highest floor with interlocking triangle facades.
